Smith Runs Hit String to 25 Straight Games Saturday, August 8th , 2026 The number just keeps getting higher. Lynchburg third baseman Jimmy Smith has now extended his hitting string to 25 games. He did it today with 3 hits in 4 at-bats as the Lynchburg won the game, 13-5, over the Myrtle Beach Pelicans at Lynchburg Grounds. "Who knows how long it will go on?" Myrtle Beach manager Pat Jones said. "He's certainly tough to pitch to right now." Jimmy Smith was hit by a pitch in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th and hit a three-run home run off Blake Buchanan in the 8th. On the year, Smith is hitting .299 with 80 hits, 6 home runs, 35 RBIs, .355 OBP and has scored 33 runs. |
