5-Hit Blitz by Mulcahy Thursday, August 20th , 2026 There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day. John Mulcahy is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-5 against the St. Lucie Mets at Citi Field. The monster effort from the 21-year-old third baseman helped the Tampa Tarpons get the win, 8-0. "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Mets manager Josh Sturgis. "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today." John Mulcahy hit an RBI single in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 9th. At present, Mulcahy is batting .296 and has collected 1 home run, 6 RBIs, .338 OBP and scored 9 runs. |
