Hankinson Pops 3 Out of the Park Against Cubs
Wednesday, July 22nd , 2026
Los Angeles A(ACL) Angels left fielder Mitch Hankinson sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little.
Prior to the start of today's contest with the Chicago N (ACL) Cubs, Hankinson told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times.
"During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber."
The big day from Hankinson pushed the Angels past the Cubs, 14-12. To go along with the homers, he collected 6 RBIs and scored 4 runs.
"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Hankinson told reporters after the game.
Mitch Hankinson struck out in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Danny Rivera in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, struck out in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Eddie Rodriguez in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Jamie Raden in the 8th.
Thus far this season, Hankinson is hitting .361 with 3 home runs, 10 RBIs and 6 runs scored. He has 13 hits in 36 at-bats and has played in 8 games.
