Nelson Goes 5-for-6
Thursday, July 30th , 2026
A jubilant Ben Nelson joined the postgame press conference at Angel Stadium of Anaheim to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Milwaukee(ACL) Brewers Gold pitching staff he had just vanquished.
"It may not have looked like it," said the Los Angeles A(ACL) Angels center fielder, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."
That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-6 hitting performance, which led to the 10-9 Angels win.
"He made it look easy," said Taylor Goddard, manager of the Brewers Gold. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."
Ben Nelson grounded out in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Mike Wofford in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
So far this season, Nelson has gotten 31 hits in 72 at-bats for a .431 batting average with 3 home runs. His stats include 18 RBIs and 15 runs scored. He has played in 15 games.
