There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day.

Joel Calahan is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-5 against the Boston (DSL) Red Sox 2 at Cardinals Blue Grounds. The monster effort from the 17-year-old catcher helped the St. Louis (DSL) Cardinals Blue get the win, 18-5.

"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Red Sox 2 manager Paul Hurt. "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today."

Joel Calahan hit a three-run home run off Fernando Hernandez in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.

This season, Calahan is hitting .309 with 2 home runs.
