Chris Edvalson, who is tied for 3rd in the AL in quality starts with 18, was locked in. The right-hander led the Boston Red Sox to a 3-2 win against the Lake Wylie Renegades at Fenway Park. With the win over Lake Wylie, the Red Sox improved to 69-63.
The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Phil Walker came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Lake Wylie pitcher Luis Ramos, he hit a first pitch curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Boston on top, 3-2.
"This game will punch you right in the mouth," said Edvalson. "My job is to show up and give my team a chance."
