Washington Gets 3-1 Win
|
Hurler Pedro Martinez gave the Washington Nationals a solid start. The native of Lathrop, California helped his team defeat the River Hills Rockets, 3-1, at River Hills Grounds. Martinez yielded 1 run over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 11. His record improves to 14-7. By defeating River Hills, the 4th-place Nationals improved to 58-74.
Washington took a 3-1 lead on Bobby Moyano's 18th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Moyano hit in the top of the seventh, left River Hills pitcher Adam McElroy visibly frustrated.
"If you chase it, you need to get it," said Washington skipper John Galenski.
