The Atlanta Braves powered past the Lake Wylie Renegades, 10-5, at Renegades Field. Bill Mathews provided some of the pop. He slugged 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Atlanta is now 64-74, Lake Wylie 77-61.

Atlanta used a well-timed hit by Tsugiharu Morimoto to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Braves ahead, 5-4. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"I like to lead by example," said Mathews. "I'm glad I could contribute to a good win."
