Durham-Syracuse Fight Results in Suspensions Tuesday, September 8th , 2026 If there wasn't a history between Gilbert Gutierrez of Durham and Joe Kooser of Syracuse, then there is one now. The incident between the two sparked a bench-clearing scrum with those two being the center of attention. Now they will miss 4 and 8 games respectively as a result of their actions. The league office announced their suspensions today. "We're both really competitive," Gutierrez said later, "and sometimes things go a little too far because of it." At present, Gutierrez is batting .263 with 73 hits and 7 home runs. He has knocked in 32 runs and scored 31 times. So far this season, Kooser has compiled a 3-2 record with a 5.94 ERA. |
