Breaking PCL News: Playoffs begin
Tuesday, September 8th , 2026
A playoff baseball game has a surreal atmosphere. Fans become one, roaring in unison at a great play and sharing the grief at blown opportunity. Victory and defeat play out in a rainbow of colors, sounds, smells and feelings. Pacific Coast League playoff baseball is a memorable experience. What is it like? Ask the 10-year-old sitting with his dad as he plucks a foul ball out of the air. Ask the veteran slugger who hits that walk-off home run. Ask the manager in the big game after coming from 10 games back to win the pennant. Ask the countless number of legends who have flourished or those greats who never won the big one. Or tomorrow, ask any of the rookies what it's like to play in one of the Round 1 showdowns: Reno Aces vs El Paso Chihuahuas.

PCL News Flash: Regular Season ends
Tuesday, September 8th , 2026
The 2026 Pacific Coast League season has ended. Most clubs and most players are headed home for the year, but a few good teams will head to the playoffs, which are slated to start soon. They will get a chance to be the league's champion. All they have to do is win the Round 1 -- a not-so-easy task. To win it takes a combination of good pitching, good defense and timely hitting -- and occasionally some lucky bounces of the ball.

Justice, on Top of His Game, Beats Sugar Land, 4-0
Monday, September 7th , 2026
The Albuquerque Isotopes shut out the Sugar Land Skeeters, 4-0, behind the strong pitching of Jamie Justice. Justice surrendered only 4 hits in recording the complete-game victory, and struck out 2.
Following the last out, Justice appeared to celebrate a little too boisterously for Sugar Land manager Jimmy McIlroy, who could be seen scolding the famously outspoken right-hander as the clubs left the field. Justice's own manager then intervened with some words for his counterpart.
The Skeeters skipper would not comment on the exchange but, at the Isotopes press conference, Justice confirmed that it was regarding the celebration.
"He basically told me I was being a lousy winner," Justice said.
"And I told him he was being a lousy loser," Albuquerque manager Chance Van Treese added.
Checking out his stats for the season, Justice has notched 8 wins and 6 losses in 18 starts. His ERA is 3.11 and he's struck out 82 batters in 124.1 innings.
