5-Hit Blitz by Springfield's Galvan
Thursday, August 13th , 2026
Today at Hooks Ballpark, Nelson Galvan put on an impressive display.
The Springfield Cardinals center fielder tagged Corpus Christi pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats, but his teammates were unable to capitalize on the spree and lost the game to the Corpus Christi Hooks by the score of 12-4.
"The loss takes some of the joy out of it, but I'll take it," Galvan said. "5-for-5 ain't bad in any league."
Despite the terrific performance, the Cardinals manager was unwilling to offer the center fielder much praise, saying the "whole roster" is held accountable for losses.
"Nelson told me 'Coach, I had 5 hits' and I said 'Well that's great, but it looks like we needed one more from you,'" manager Chris Stanfield said.
Nelson Galvan hit a solo-shot off Andy Gonzales in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
So far this season, Galvan is batting .353 with 2 home runs, 5 RBIs and 5 runs scored. He has 12 hits in 34 at-bats, 7 walks and a .463 OBP. Galvan has played in 9 games.
