Rathbone Smacks 4 Homers Against Altoona Thursday, June 4th , 2026 Nothing could stop David Rathbone -- certainly not the Altoona Curve pitching staff. The 22-year-old catcher for the Portland Sea Dogs sent 4 baseballs soaring out of Sea Dogs Ballpark and made his name a part of history. Behind his barrage, the Sea Dogs earned a win, 5-4, over the Curve. "In the standings, a loss is just a loss, but this one was frustrating," Curve manager Tommy Lipscomb said later. "He clobbered us." Rathbone's dream game included 4 hits in 4 at-bats, 4 homers, 5 runs driven in and 4 runs scored. "I know all the stories are going to be about me today, and that's OK," Rathbone told the press in the locker room after the game. "Next time, it'll be one of the other guys." David Rathbone hit a solo-shot off Danny Arbizu in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Danny Arbizu in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Danny Arbizu in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Jeff Fay in the 9th. |
