SL Names Smokies Rubio Winner Monday, August 31st , 2026 Tennessee fans have something to crow about today as Tennessee shortstop Danny Rubio nabbed the Southern League Player of the Week Award for his performance over the last seven days. "I know there are times when it's hard to lay off pitches. Everyone goes through stretches when he's too eager to put the ball in play. You know, though, I feel like this past week I was able to get in the right frame of mind and just let things come naturally," said Rubio. He posted a .360 average (9-for-25) this past week with 4 home runs, 15 RBIs, and 7 runs scored. So far this season, Rubio is batting .236 with 7 home runs, 36 RBIs and 31 runs scored. He has 51 hits in 216 at-bats, 24 walks and a .317 OBP. Rubio has played in 60 games. |
