Simo Goes on Rampage Against Chiefs Saturday, August 22nd , 2026 Quad Cities River Bandits second baseman Juan Simo had a day to remember at Chiefs Grounds, ripping apart the Peoria Chiefs and sparking the 6-5 River Bandits win. Simo wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-6. "I'm usually a first ball hitter," Simo told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it." Juan Simo hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, walked in a run in the 7th, singled in the 9th and grounded out in the 11th. Simo is hitting .282 for the season with 13 home runs, 44 RBIs and 56 runs scored. He has 107 hits in 379 at-bats and played in 101 games. |
