The 17-year-old left fielder scattered hits all over Orioles 1 Field to pace the 11-8 Cleveland (DSL) Guardians 1 victory over the Baltimore (DSL) Orioles 1. Baltimore (DSL) skipper Eric Oliver told reporters in the press room that "Villanueva deserves a hat-tip." "He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Villanueva hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit." Orlando Villanueva singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, struck out in the 5th, hit a two-run double in the 7th and singled in the 9th. Currently Villanueva is batting .292 with 52 hits and 3 home runs. He has knocked in 21 runs and scored 26 times. |
