For the day, the Kansas City (DSL) shortstop went 3-for-6 against Atlanta (DSL) with 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored in a brilliant display of power hitting that led the Royals 1 to the 8-2 win. "I tell you what. I'm shocked because I didn't think that last ball had enough to get out," he told BNN reporters in the clubhouse following the game. "I thought it was just going to be a long out." Chris Smith grounded out in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Dave Esteras in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Jose Almaraz in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off David Perez in the 8th and struck out in the 9th. Smith is batting .301 this year with 12 home runs, 22 RBIs and 24 runs scored. He has 34 hits in 113 at-bats. |
