Matros Strokes 5 Hits Tuesday, August 18th , 2026 Joe Matros of the Cubs 2 was unstoppable in his team's 12-8 victory over the St. Louis (DSL) Cardinals Red at St. Louis (DSL) Grounds. He battered them for 5 hits in 6 at-bats. "Boy, I was on the mark today," said the Chicago N (DSL) right fielder after the game. "I could see the ball real well. It's a great feeling to do this. And besides, 5-for-6 won't hurt your batting average like 0-for-5 will." Joe Matros singled in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Dan Rodriguez in the 4th, singled in the 5th, flied out in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 9th. In 13 games this season, Matros has compiled a .392 batting average with 20 hits and 5 home runs. He has also scored 12 times and knocked in 14 runs. |
