League Gives Baez Suspension
Saturday, June 6th , 2026
The league has issued a 4-game suspension to Mets catcher Alberto Baez for his bad conduct yesterday at the New York-Toronto game at Citi Field. Baez was tossed out of the game for heatedly questioning a third-strike call. Once the home plate umpire ejected him, Baez ran over to argue more, even though the umpire warned him specifically, "Don't you come over here."

Baez then retreated to the dugout, where he threw several bats onto the field and followed with a toss of an athletic trainer's bag. Later, Baez ran out of the clubhouse tunnel to continue arguing -- a big no-no for a player who has already been thrown out.

Baez is swinging at a .197 pace on the year with 2 home runs, 14 RBIs and 6 runs scored. He has played in 45 games.
