Vasquez Put in Cooler, Hitless Against New York A (FCL) Monday, July 27th , 2026 Tony Vasquez saw his 28-game hitting streak wither and die during the St. Louis (FCL) Cardinals win over New York A (FCL) at Busch Stadium. The 20-year-old catcher was held hitless in 3 at-bats by the New York A (FCL) Yankees, but his teammates produced enough offense to win the game, 4-3. "Am I disappointed about the hit streak? Maybe, just a little bit," a seemingly upbeat Vasquez told reporters in the clubhouse. "But really, how could you be unhappy after you hit in 28 straight games? I'm just glad it lasted as long as it did. Life is good." So far this season, Vasquez has no home runs and a .333 batting average. |
