Fernandez Tags Red Sox for 5 Hits Friday, August 7th , 2026 David Fernandez was at the head of a Miami (FCL) hit parade at Fenway Park. The center fielder went to the plate 7 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Marlins to a nice 17-8 victory over the Boston (FCL) Red Sox. "I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Fernandez told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today." Red Sox skipper Mike Yinger said later that the club gave up "too much plate." "Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that." David Fernandez singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Nick Doss in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Pat Schaefer in the 7th, struck out in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Miguel Alvarado in the 9th. Fernandez is currently hitting at a .335 pace with 7 home runs and 25 RBIs. |
