Iowa's Blea Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits
Thursday, September 3rd , 2026
Speaking with reporters after a dominating hitting performance, Antonio Blea said his club's tilt with the Buffalo Bisons "felt almost like batting practice." The 23-year-old shortstop went a remarkable 5-for-5 at the plate.
"I saw the ball well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted," he recalled later.
However, his sensational day wasn't enough for the Iowa Cubs, who were topped by the Bisons, 8-6.
"It's a good lesson for him, I guess," Cubs manager Prince Brewton said. "Sometimes Antonio is going to lose. But I would rather him go 5-for-5 and lose than go 0-for-5 and lose."
Antonio Blea singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off David Tirado in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and doubled in the 8th.
Blea is hitting at a .376 mark this season. His stats show 2 home runs, 9 RBIs and 11 runs scored. He has played 26 games for the Cubs.
